Consett, County Durham

The North-East of England is a good way from Germany but was nevertheless the subject of bombing raids.

This shelter was found in a garden near Consett. The owner bought the house in 1993 and heard rumours that one of the houses in the terrace had an Anderson shelter, but the bottom half of the 40 metre garden was completely overgrown. She gradually recovered the garden and discovered this little bit of history.
